This is the 3-minute, 4 slide pitch I’ll give this Tuesday at the Good Frenzy Pitch Event during the Points of Light Civic Accelerator’s Demo Night:

Hello, I am Joey Womack, producer of Goodie Hack: The Idea Hackathon Series for Under-Served Communities.

According to The World Health Organization, UNICEF, and The International Energy Agency, over one billion people worldwide are without basic needs in areas such as education, health & wellness, and safety. It’s reflected in a lack of shelter for people in Latin America, access to medicine in South-East Asia, and low literacy and graduation rates for African-Americans in the United States. But they shouldn’t have to live this way. And it’s our purpose to help raise these basic need averages up to their respective countries’ national averages.

So let’s talk about how we’ll make this happen. Goodie Hack is a series of 10 hour events where amazing social enterprises already working on these issues for under-served communities present their  top non-financial challenges to teams of techies (web developers and designers) and non-techies (such as business professionals, teachers, other non-profit leaders, and everyday people) who brainstorm and start to develop apps or websites which solve these problems.

To give you an example of what can come of out Goodie Hack, Flight1080, a gaming app which makes learning fun, is still being worked on by Mentor Walk, one of the presenting organizations from March, and a program of the Campus Community Partnership Foundation that inspires under-privileged kids to stay in school by matching them with college students as role models.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll be pretty busy. This Saturday, right here in Atlanta, we’ll have another edition sponsored by Google and Be The Match, start the 501c(3) application process in July, go down to Fort Lauderdale for another Goodie Hack in August, and, in the 4th Quarter, launch Goodie Marketing where teams will generate local marketing strategies for select non-profits. In 2015, we’ll expand to more cities as well as launch an app and membership program that will serve as a pipeline to connect entrepreneurs, professionals, and organizations from our events to each other in an effort make our ecosystem more efficient.

Members of our team have extensive experience working with world-class brands in marketing, event planning, promotion, and design, but we’re looking for advisors, organizations to help as well as to collaborate with partners for new market entry, programming opportunities, and fiscal sponsorship.

By increasing the capacity of thousands of organizations while emphasizing an air of passion, love, and getting things done, we really think that we’re onto something special here, and I look forward to working with you to make this vision a reality. Thank you.
